What is it?

StableGen is a Blender add-on for texturing meshes and whole scenes with diffusion models, and for generating new meshes from a prompt or an image. It renders guidance images from cameras placed in the scene, sends the work to a ComfyUI server on the same machine or elsewhere on the network, and projects the generated views back onto the surfaces.

Texturing works view by view: each camera produces a generated view that follows the geometry through a depth guide, and the views are blended by how directly each camera sees a surface. Masked Edit regenerates only a painted region, and PBR maps for albedo, roughness, metallic and normals can be estimated and baked for other software. Meshes can come from TRELLIS.2, and SkinTokens can add a skeleton and skin weights, with FBX or BVH motion retargeted onto the rig.

Results can be baked into UV textures and exported as glTF or FBX for game engines, along with orbit GIFs, MP4s and multi-color 3MF files. A Scene Queue supports unattended batch runs.

Key features

  • 01Generates textures for meshes and scenes by projecting views from scene cameras.
  • 02Masked Edit regenerates only the painted part of a texture.
  • 03Estimates PBR maps (albedo, roughness, metallic, normal) and bakes them for other software.
  • 04Generates meshes from a prompt or image via TRELLIS.2 and adds rigs with SkinTokens.
  • 05Retargets FBX or BVH animations such as Mixamo motion onto a rig.
  • 06Runs models on a ComfyUI server locally or over the network.

Use cases

  • Texturing a 3D model or environment with AI-generated materials inside Blender.
  • Editing one region of an existing texture without redoing the whole asset.
  • Creating rigged characters from a text prompt for game or animation prototypes.
  • Exporting textured, animated assets to Unreal Engine, Unity or Godot.

Things to know

  • Requires a separate ComfyUI server, on the same computer or another machine on your network.
  • Licensed under GPL-3.0, a copyleft license that applies to derivative works.
