What is it?
Video Transcript is a subtitle tool that runs entirely in the browser. You import a local MP4, optionally generate subtitles with Whisper running on your own device, edit segments and timing on a timeline, set a global subtitle style, and export an MP4 with the subtitles burned in.
Videos, subtitles and exports stay on the current device. No account is required and audio or video is not uploaded. Projects, subtitle progress and video cache are stored locally in IndexedDB, and the app can be installed as a PWA.
Speech recognition uses ONNX Whisper models via Transformers.js, preferring WebGPU and falling back to WASM on CPU. Models are downloaded once from Hugging Face and cached, and the app supports Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean as well as automatic language detection.
