What is it?
Tel-Agent sits between a phone line and an AI agent. Incoming SIP calls are checked against routing rules and either passed to a human, blocked, or handed to an AI agent that answers in real time. The agent can call tools such as transferring the call, taking a message, checking a calendar, or calling an HTTP endpoint, and calls are recorded, transcribed and searchable.
The same agent can also answer on web chat, SMS, email, WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, Instagram, Discord and Slack, each connected with the operator's own platform credentials. It runs on your own hardware and LAN, with Deepgram for speech recognition, a cloud LLM and ElevenLabs for speech synthesis in the v1 provider setup. It connects to existing PBXes such as 3CX, Asterisk and FreePBX as an extension, and only speaks SIP; analog lines need an ATA.
The project is in alpha. Windows, macOS and Linux installers and Docker Compose files are available, and the dashboard is available in five languages.

Things to know
- The project is in alpha stage.
- The installers are unsigned, so the operating system will ask for confirmation before running them.
- The phone channel needs API keys for speech-to-text, an LLM and text-to-speech providers, and a SIP line or PBX.
- Local models need a GPU to hold a natural conversation and are not the default.
