What is it?
Chief of Staff v2 is a personal AI assistant that keeps its context as plain markdown inside an Obsidian vault. It holds notes on your calendar, open commitments, and standing rules for how you work, and an AI model reads those files at the start of each session so it does not begin from zero. The output includes a morning brief covering today, the week ahead, and a single next action.
The design is deliberately minimal. There is no database, hosted service, or hidden memory store; everything the assistant knows is a file you can open and edit. The AI layer is a small, swappable set of instructions that works with Claude Code and other MCP-capable agents, and the Obsidian connection is optional since the AI can also read and write the vault directly.
The project is aimed at people with ADHD and is written for non-coders, with a setup guide that an AI assistant can walk a user through. It is the second iteration of the author's system, rebuilt after an earlier, larger version became hard to maintain. It is MIT licensed.
Key features
- 01Stores calendar, commitments and working rules as plain markdown files in an Obsidian vault.

- 03Works with Claude Code and other MCP-capable agents; the Obsidian link is optional.
- 04Includes a setup guide written so an AI assistant can walk a user through installation.
- 05Keeps no database or hosted service, so all data stays on the user's own disk.
Use cases
- Keeping track of commitments and deadlines when working memory is unreliable.
- Starting each day with a short brief drawn from your own notes and calendar.
- Building a personal knowledge base that an AI can read and reason over.
- Experimenting with a file-based alternative to a hosted to-do or Notion setup.
Quick start

- 2
Install Obsidian and make a vault, install your AI tool and log in, then launch the AI from the repo folder
Things to know
- Needs a paid subscription to a current-generation agentic AI model with file-system access.
- Designed for a capable model; it is not meant to run on cheap local models.
- Calendar and mail connections are needed for the full morning brief.
- Built as a personal system by one author, with setup done mostly by hand or through an AI assistant.
