What is it?

GoDoxy is a reverse proxy and container orchestrator aimed at self-hosters. It lists running Docker or Podman containers, reads their names, labels and port settings, and creates routes automatically. Subdomains are set with the proxy.aliases label, and route changes are applied as containers start or stop, without restarting the proxy.

Beyond HTTP reverse proxying, it provides TCP/UDP forwarding, OpenID Connect SSO, ForwardAuth integration, IP and country access rules, and Let's Encrypt certificates issued through DNS-01 providers. A WebUI covers routes, containers, logs, metrics and uptime. Containers can be stopped and woken by traffic, and Proxmox nodes and LXC containers can be bound to routes and managed from the same interface.

GoDoxy is designed to run in Docker host network mode. It supports Linux amd64 and arm64.

Key features

  • 01Automatic route creation from Docker and Podman container labels
  • 02WebUI for routes, containers, logs, metrics and uptime
  • 03Let's Encrypt certificates via DNS-01 providers
  • 04HTTP reverse proxy plus TCP/UDP forwarding
  • 05OpenID Connect SSO and ForwardAuth integration
  • 06Idle sleep that stops and wakes containers based on traffic

Use cases

  • Exposing many self-hosted Docker services under subdomains of one domain
  • Putting SSO or IP-based access control in front of internal apps
  • Managing Proxmox LXC containers and their routes from one dashboard
  • Reducing resource use of rarely accessed containers with idle sleep

Quick start

  1. 1

Prepare a new directory for Docker Compose and config files

  2. 2

Run the setup script inside the directory, or set up manually

  3. 3

Start the Docker Compose service from the generated compose.yml

    docker compose up -d
  4. 4

Open the WebUI at your godoxy subdomain to finish configuration

Things to know

  • Officially supports only Linux on amd64 and arm64.
  • GoDoxy must run in host network mode and needs a wildcard DNS record pointing to its host.
  • The metadata lists no clear open-source license (NOASSERTION), so check the license before reuse.
