What is it?

NextGenUp is an open-source AI photo, audio and video studio that runs entirely on the user's own machine. It upscales images to 8K and videos to 4K using Real-ESRGAN, with GFPGAN face restoration available for portraits and old photos. The same app also covers background removal (BiRefNet), object removal (LaMa), denoising and deblurring (SCUNet, NAFNet), and colorization of black-and-white photos (DDColor).

The audio side includes vocal and instrumental separation using MDX-Net, speech noise removal with DeepFilterNet3, and automatic mastering with a tuning panel. Video tools can strip music or noise from a soundtrack without re-encoding the picture, compress clips to a target size, and make GIFs. A tag editor rewrites MP3 and WAV metadata without changing the audio data.

Desktop installers are provided for macOS, Windows and Linux, and the same interface can run as a self-hosted web app on a local network. Optional models download on first use, and files are not uploaded to a server.
