What is it?
OpenDuet is an open-source personal agent that does not wait to be asked. It sends a short morning brief, sorts incoming Gmail and calendar items into what needs you and what can wait, and keeps working on tasks in its own container with Chromium, a workspace volume and a shell while you are away.
Every action that sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes something goes through a single gateway that checks policy, writes an audit record and then pauses for Refuse, Allow once or Always allow. Passwords are typed into a masked box and never reach the agent's conversation, and outgoing messages are checked for sensitive information.
OpenDuet runs on OpenBot's server and app, requires a CopilotKit Intelligence project for threads and memory, and is configured through one folder that holds its name, Bots, channels, model and skills. It is early and under active development.
Key features
- 01Morning brief summarizing what needs attention, what can wait, and today's calendar
- 02Triage of Gmail and calendar items with a one-line reason for each
- 03Tasks run in a separate browser and workspace, with status updates when done or stuck
- 04Approval gate that shows the exact action before sending, paying, signing or deleting
- 05Masked secret entry so passwords stay out of the agent's conversation
- 06Reusable skills invoked with / and scheduled routines
Use cases
- Starting each workday with one brief covering mail, calendar and pending decisions
- Having an agent research public sources and compile a brief with links while you work on other things
- Running a personal assistant that you host yourself and whose model you choose
- Adapting a proactive agent template to build your own assistant on OpenBot
Quick start
- 1
Clone the repository and install dependencies
git clone https://github.com/CopilotKit/OpenDuet.git && cd OpenDuet && cp .env.example .env && bun install - 2
Sign in to CopilotKit and select an Intelligence project

- 4
Start OpenDuet and open http://localhost:3010
bash scripts/start.sh
Things to know
- Early-stage and in active development, so features and interfaces may change.
- Requires a CopilotKit Intelligence project and a model API key, and Docker and Bun to run.
- Self-hosting setup is involved, with Postgres and per-Bot Docker computers to manage.
