What is it?
Thursday is a voice assistant you run on your own computer. OpenAI's GPT-Live 1 model holds the spoken conversation, using either a ChatGPT plan or an OpenAI API key. Anything that takes more than a few seconds is handed to a background bot, which can use a shell, a real browser, local files, Agent Skills and MCP servers, so the call stays live while the work runs.
Bots can pass parts of a job to each other, ask the user when a decision is needed, and keep running after the call ends. Their results and questions flow back into the conversation. Scheduled routines can start jobs at set times, and the assistant's memory of the user is stored as plain notes that can be read and edited. Requests can also be sent in text from the app, Telegram, Discord, Slack or email.
The bots can use models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI or the Vercel AI Gateway. The app and its data stay on the local machine, but call audio and bot requests go to the chosen model providers. The project is written in TypeScript on Next.js, installs with npx, and is MIT-licensed.

npx thursday-agent - 2
Pick your starter bots and tap her face to start a call
Things to know
- The models are not local: call audio goes to OpenAI and bots run on the providers you add.
- It is not a sandbox: bots run real commands as you, so review SECURITY.md before giving it sensitive access.
- Tested on macOS; Linux should work and Windows is not yet tested.
- On an OpenAI API key, the voice costs about $0.05 per minute of open call.
