What is it?
Agent Beacon is a local-first memory layer for AI coding agents. It records session history from Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, OpenCode, Cline and more than twenty other harnesses, normalizes it into one OpenTelemetry-based event model, and lets reviewed knowledge such as workflows, corrections and debugging patterns be retrieved by future agents through MCP or Agent Skills.
Sessions are stored as durable JSONL on the local machine by default. A local terminal browser (`beacon traces`) and a read-only web dashboard (`beacon endpoint dashboard`) let you inspect prompts, tool calls, commands, file edits, approvals, MCP activity and token usage for each trace. Forwarding to Splunk, Datadog, Elastic, Microsoft Sentinel, AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage and other destinations is optional.
Installation is available through Homebrew on macOS, `.deb` and `.rpm` packages on Linux, and an MSI on Windows. Hosted forwarding to Beacon Cloud is opt-in and is not enabled unless the user confirms it during setup.
Key features
- 01Captures session history from Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, OpenCode, Cline and 20+ other agent harnesses
- 02Normalizes prompts, tool calls, commands, file edits, approvals and token usage into one trace format
- 03Stores data as local JSONL with a built-in terminal and web dashboard
- 04Shares reviewed knowledge with future agents through MCP and Agent Skills
- 05Forwards logs to SIEM, log aggregation and object storage destinations such as Splunk and AWS S3
Use cases
- Reusing a debugging fix or migration workflow discovered in one agent session across other tools
- Auditing what coding agents ran, edited and approved across a team's machines
- Feeding agent activity into an existing SIEM or log pipeline for security monitoring
- Keeping repository conventions and recurring corrections available to every agent a developer uses
Quick start
- 1
Add the Homebrew tap
brew tap asymptote-labs/tap - 2
Install Beacon
brew install beacon - 3
Run endpoint setup
beacon endpoint install - 4
Browse your captured session history
beacon traces
Things to know
- Interactive setup preselects Beacon Cloud, so you must choose Local to keep history on this machine.
- Lenses run in a sandbox that cannot block every way data can leave the browser, so install only lenses you trust.
