What is it?

AI Video Tutorial Generator is a Windows desktop workspace for producing explainer videos from a topic, learner question, script, or source material. It handles the whole pipeline in one place: research and outline, script and storyboard, narration, captions, illustrations, animated presenters, scene rendering, and export. Each stage is reviewable, so users can approve the storyboard and source rights before media generation starts, then refine scenes in a built-in timeline editor.

Projects are stored as ordinary local folders with revisions, job state, and content-addressed media. Writing and research can run on cloud providers such as Groq, Gemini, Mistral, OpenRouter, and NVIDIA NIM using your own keys, or on local image and presenter-animation models on an optional NVIDIA GPU. Exports include video, captions, transcript, bibliography, chapters, thumbnail, and a portable project archive.

The codebase is a Tauri app with a React and TypeScript interface, a Rust desktop core, and a Python pipeline that owns the project database. A deterministic Chromium-based renderer and managed FFmpeg produce the frames and video.

Key features

  • 01Turns a topic or source into a storyboard you review before media generation.

  • 04Supports cloud AI providers with your own keys, plus local image and animation models.
  • 05Exports video, captions, transcript, bibliography, chapters, and a portable project archive.

Use cases

  • Creating course-style explainer videos from lecture notes or documentation.
  • Producing illustrated tutorials on a topic without recording yourself on camera.

Things to know

  • Windows only, requiring Windows 10 or 11 64-bit with WebView2.
  • Needs about 25 GB of free disk space, plus extra space for optional model packs.
  • Local presenter animation and image generation need an optional NVIDIA GPU; cloud features need your own provider API key.
  • The installer is not Authenticode-signed, so Windows may show an unknown-publisher warning.
