Pi-Bolt is a fork of the Pi coding agent that compiles every function to machine code when the executable is built, so nothing is parsed or JIT-compiled at launch. It keeps Pi's commands, sessions, settings, providers and extensions, and runs on Linux x86-64 and ARM64, macOS on Apple silicon, Windows x64, and Android through Termux, without requiring Node.js or Bun to be installed.

The project reports that it starts two to three times sooner than Pi on Bun and uses about a third of its CPU over a session, with especially large gains when streaming long answers or writing large files compared with Pi on Node. A JIT build is also offered for extensions that do heavy work or use bun:ffi, and Pi-Bolt can run in editors that support the Agent Client Protocol and act as an MCP server for other agents.

The build bundles Bun's runtime with a prebuilt heap and an ahead-of-time compiler based on JavaScriptCore's B3 back end. Installation uses a single shell or PowerShell command, and the installed tool is named pi-bolt so it can sit alongside Pi.
