LiveContainer is an iOS app launcher, not an emulator or hypervisor. You install IPA files into it and run them from inside the LiveContainer app, so the guest apps do not need their own installed home screen icon or a separate App ID per app. This sidesteps the usual free developer account limits on how many apps can be sideloaded.

Each installed app can have multiple data containers, which lets you keep several versions or accounts of the same app side by side. On iOS versions below 26, when JIT is available, apps are launched without re-signing; otherwise they are signed with LiveContainer's certificate. Optional multitasking runs several apps in in-app or native iPad windows, and the project supports sharing URLs and files into apps through the system share sheet.

The project requires iOS or iPadOS 15 or later, with multitasking requiring 16.0 or later, and works with AltStore 2.0+ or SideStore 0.6.0+. It is written in Swift and SwiftUI and is distributed as a standalone IPA or a build bundled with SideStore. Known limitations include guest apps not being sandboxed from one another, no app extension support, and no remote push notifications.
