Sanity Studio is a single-page content editing application that you configure and extend with JavaScript and React. It sits on top of Sanity's hosted, real-time data store, Content Lake, and lets teams define their own document schemas, field validations, and editing layouts.

The Studio includes a block editor for structured rich text, a plugin architecture with custom components, and theming for branding. Content can be read and written through GROQ queries, a GraphQL API, or client APIs that also support importing, exporting, and listening for live updates. Images are uploaded to an asset pipeline and can be transformed on demand, with metadata such as dominant colors and EXIF data available for query.

Because the frontend is not prescribed, developers can pair the Studio with any frontend framework. The project is MIT-licensed and installed with a single create command.
