Dolt is a SQL database that can be versioned like a Git repository. You can fork, clone, branch, merge, push and pull data, and the command line uses the same verbs as Git, with tables taking the place of files.

Dolt works as a MySQL-compatible server: any MySQL client can connect to it and read or change schema and data. Version control operations are exposed in SQL through system tables, functions and stored procedures named with a dolt_ prefix, such as dolt_commit, dolt_merge and dolt_diff. The project also supports foreign keys, secondary indexes, triggers, check constraints and stored procedures.

Dolt is distributed as a single binary for Linux, macOS and Windows, with Docker images for CLI and server use. The project also offers DoltHub for sharing public Dolt databases, and Doltgres as a PostgreSQL-flavored variant.
