An alternative full node Bitcoin implementation written in Go that validates and serves the block chain without wallet functionality.

Best open-source full-node blockchain clients (2026)
Full-node software connects to a peer-to-peer network and validates blocks and transactions on its own, without trusting a third party. When choosing one, check which chain it supports, whether it includes wallet functions, and how closely it matches Bitcoin Core's interfaces. bitcoin/bitcoin is the reference implementation and the safest choice for compatibility. btcsuite/btcd is written in Go and handles validation and serving only, with no wallet. reardencode/rbitcoin stores a relational archive instead of a UTXO set and includes Electrum serving.
