Agent Skills that make coding agents design distinctive frontends with art direction, real photos and in-browser visual checks instead of generic AI landing pages.

What is it?
magpie lets you choose the model behind each coding agent from one place. Agents like Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI normally store their model settings in their own files and only work with their vendor's models. magpie runs a local gateway at 127.0.0.1:3425 that translates between OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini request formats, so an agent can run on a model from another provider, such as Claude Code on DeepSeek or Codex on Kimi.
You can switch an agent's model from the menu bar app, the web UI, the TUI or the CLI, and magpie edits only the relevant key in the agent's config. Providers can be API keys, local servers or signed-in subscriptions. Routing groups spread requests across several accounts or models and fail over when a quota runs out, using strategies such as smart, order, rotate and usage. Plugins can add providers or act as middleware that changes requests and replies.
The app runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and can also run in Docker or on Termux.
Key features
- 01Switch the model for each supported agent from a menu bar app, web UI, TUI or CLI.
- 02Local gateway translating OpenAI Chat, OpenAI Responses, Anthropic and Gemini request formats, including streaming and tool calls.
- 03Routing groups that fail over between accounts or models when a quota runs out.
- 04Support for API keys, local models and signed-in subscriptions such as Claude, ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot.
- 05Plugins written in JavaScript that add providers or act as request and response middleware.
Use cases
- Running Claude Code or Codex on a cheaper or alternative model provider.
- Combining several subscriptions or API accounts so work continues when one quota runs out.
- Sharing one set of providers and API keys across several coding agents on one machine.
- Pointing a custom tool that accepts a base URL at the local gateway.
