What is it?

Flightdeck is a plugin for Claude Code that opens a live agent dashboard in the terminal. It shows the main model's state, context window usage and cost, a timeline of architect or advisor consults, and every permission check with its verdict. Subagents appear as cards side by side, switching to swimlanes on a shared time axis when there are more of them.

The pane is built from real session events such as tool calls, permission verdicts, agent spawns and token usage. It only observes: hooks pass events through unchanged and never deny, rewrite or delay a tool call. It makes no network requests, runs no processes and stores nothing across sessions. Some values are inferred rather than measured, such as architect moments, and are labelled as such.

The pane works in fullscreen terminals beside the transcript, inline above the prompt on the main screen, and in the desktop app, where it draws an SVG time axis. Layout, panels, palette and motion are configurable through Claude Code's plugin options.

Key features

  • 01Shows context usage, compaction, session cost and rate-limit windows for the main model.
  • 02Lists every permission check as a colour-coded gate, with drill-down per tool family.
  • 03Displays subagents as cards or swimlanes with live token, step and clock readings.
  • 04Tracks architect or advisor consults on a timeline.
  • 05Passes all events through unchanged, with no network requests and no cross-session storage.

Use cases

  • Watching how many subagents a Claude Code session spawns and how much context each one uses.
  • Reviewing which tool calls and permission checks were allowed, denied or asked for during a long session.
  • Keeping an eye on context size and cost while running large multi-step coding tasks.

Quick start

  1. 1

Add the marketplace inside Claude Code

    /plugin marketplace add scasella/claude-flightdeck
  2. 2

    Install the flightdeck plugin

    /plugin install flightdeck@claude-flightdeck
  3. 3

    Reload plugins

    /reload-plugins
  4. 4

    Open the Flightdeck pane

    /flightdeck

Things to know

  • Requires Claude Code 2.1.287 or later, and mods are an early-access feature whose API can change.
  • The VS Code extension may show no pane at all, according to one reported issue.
  • Server-side advisor consults are counted and timed but their content cannot be shown.
