What is it?

Recall gives Claude Code a persistent project memory so each new session does not start cold. It captures your prompts, replies, touched files and commands into an append-only history.md, then a local TF-IDF and TextRank summarizer condenses that into context.md, a compact resume point of about 1 to 2K tokens covering the goal, next steps, files touched and where you left off.

Nothing leaves the machine. The plugin makes no network calls, needs no API key and loads no third-party model, so summarization spends no model tokens. Secrets are stripped on a best-effort basis before files are written, and git output is read with hardened settings.

Opencode is supported through an opt-in installer that generates a plugin shim, a /recall-save command and an instructions entry in opencode.json. Both harnesses read and write the same plain markdown files in .recall/, so teammates using different tools can share one memory.

Key features

  • 01Appends each session's prompts, replies, files and commands to history.md automatically.
  • 02Generates a resume-ready context.md with TF-IDF and TextRank, with no model calls.
  • 03Runs with the Python standard library; numpy is optional for speed.
  • 04Fences context.md as untrusted data when loaded at session start in Claude Code.
  • 05Supports opencode through an opt-in installer that generates plugin and command files.
  • 06Configurable via recall.config.json, including auto-save on session end and secret redaction.

Use cases

  • Resuming a multi-day coding task in Claude Code without re-explaining the project.
  • Keeping token usage low on a Claude subscription by replacing long transcript replays with a short digest.
  • Working on code where transcripts may contain secrets and must not be sent to a third-party API.
  • Sharing a project's session memory across a team that uses both Claude Code and opencode.

Quick start

  1. 1

Add the marketplace in Claude Code

    /plugin marketplace add raiyanyahya/recall
  2. 2

    Install the plugin

    /plugin install recall@recall
  3. 3

Work a session, then run the save command to generate the summary

    /recall:save

Things to know

  • The opencode integration is opt-in and depends on opencode's public CLI, which may change and break capture silently.
  • Redaction of secrets is best-effort and not a guarantee.
