What is it?
Local GPT is an Obsidian plugin that adds AI assistant actions to your notes. Select text and open a context menu to pick an action, or open the Action Palette to run a one-time prompt. Default actions include continuing writing, summarizing, fixing spelling and grammar, finding action items, and general help.
The plugin works with local models served by Ollama as well as OpenAI-compatible endpoints, so text can stay on your machine for offline use. Providers are configured through the separate AI Providers plugin. Saved actions can use the global provider or a specific one, and the palette lets you override provider, model, creativity and reasoning mode for a single run.
It also supports image input with vision-capable models, and can pull context from links, backlinks and PDF files through retrieval-augmented generation using a configured embedding model. Community actions can be browsed and installed from the settings page.
