What is it?

Noodle Gallery is a self-hosted photo and video management server, built as a fork of Immich and rebased onto each new upstream Immich release. It runs as Docker containers and includes a web UI, a machine learning service for face and object recognition and CLIP search, and iPhone and Android apps that back up from the camera and connect to your own server.

The fork adds features on top of Immich. Shared Spaces are collaborative timelines with several owners and Owner, Editor and Viewer roles, where photos are linked by reference rather than copied. Global People merges face groups across a user's library and the spaces they can access. Auto-Classification tags categories such as screenshots or receipts, Video Duplicate Detection compares sampled video frames, and Pet Detection finds cats and dogs. Images can be rotated and cropped, videos can be trimmed with lossless stream copy, and media can be stored on S3-compatible backends.

Existing Immich users can switch by changing image names in docker-compose.yml and setting IMMICH_VERSION, keeping their database and library. A Google Photos Takeout import wizard is also included.
