What is it?
NeoDB is a self-hosted server for managing collections, reviews and ratings of cultural products such as books, movies, TV shows, music albums, games, podcasts and performances. Users can mark items as wishlist, in progress, complete or dropped, write notes and reviews, tag items, and build shareable collections. A shared catalog lets items be created in one click with links to many third-party sites such as Goodreads, IMDB, MusicBrainz and Steam.
Socially, NeoDB instances federate with the Fediverse through an extended ActivityPub implementation based on the Takahē server, and users can log in with Mastodon-family or Bluesky identities and import their social graph. It also stores records to ATProto PDS and publishes posts to users' feeds. Users can follow and interact with accounts on Mastodon and Pleroma, and a Mastodon-compatible API lets most Mastodon apps work with it.
The project offers a public instance at neodb.social as well as installation guides for hosting your own. It includes a RESTful API with an OpenAPI specification, data import and export, and support for several languages.
