What is it?

opencode-brief is a community plugin for OpenCode that builds a handoff brief from an existing session. Long sessions accumulate useful evidence in tool calls, shell commands and diffs; the plugin collects that evidence into one Markdown document that can be pasted into a pull request, saved as HANDOFF.md, or used to start the next session.

The brief is generated deterministically and does not call a model or make external network requests. It covers the first and latest user requests, changed working-tree files with line counts, non-test shell commands, test, typecheck and lint results with exit status, tool activity, the last assistant message, and open questions such as TODOs in the diff.

It is available in the OpenCode Desktop side panel and as the terminal /handoff command. Briefs are cached with a staleness check, and the template supports English and Turkish headings. Quoted session text is kept in its original language.

Key features

  • 01Generates a Markdown handoff brief from an OpenCode session without calling a model.
  • 02Lists changed files with line counts and status from the working tree.
  • 03Records shell commands and test, typecheck and lint results with exit codes.
  • 04Shows a composer pill when the session has changed since the cached brief.
  • 05Offers Copy, Save and Insert actions in the Desktop panel and save-to-HANDOFF.md in the terminal.

Use cases

  • Pasting a summary of an agent session into a pull request description.
  • Handing off unfinished work to another developer or a fresh OpenCode session.
  • Reviewing which files, commands and verifications an AI coding session produced.
