What is it?
Claude Image View is a mod for Claude Code. When you paste an image into the prompt, Claude Code normally only inserts a text tag such as [Image #1]. This mod reads the prompt box and draws a row of thumbnails above the input, so you can see which picture each tag refers to.
Thumbnails keep their aspect ratio and shrink to fit the space above the prompt; extra images collapse into a +N counter. In Ghostty and kitty, Claude Code draws real pictures from the cached file. In other terminals, the mod downsamples the image and renders it with colored half blocks. Non-PNG pastes are converted with sips on macOS.
The mod is local-only and makes no network requests. It runs on macOS and Linux, and requires Claude Code v2.1.287 or later.
