What is it?

Floorplan is a Claude Code and Codex plugin that reads an existing app and produces a zoomable, plain-English map of it. Parts, files and web endpoints get descriptive names, and the imports and frontend-to-backend requests between them are drawn as connections, including across separate repos.

Beyond the map, it includes a Health check that flags common problems in AI-built apps such as keys left in code, publicly readable database tables, open Firebase rules, unverified Stripe webhooks and endpoints without sign-in, each with a suggested fix. A Recent work view highlights what an AI assistant just changed. It can also draft a blueprint from a PRD or spec for an app that does not exist yet.

The scanning and layout scripts are plain Node.js with no dependencies, and the output is a local HTML file served only to your own machine. Updates re-read only changed files, and the generated folder is kept out of git.

Key features

  • 01Zoomable map from the whole app down to individual files and endpoints
  • 02Follows imports and matches frontend requests to backend endpoints across repos
  • 03Health check for exposed keys, open database rules, unverified webhooks and unauthenticated endpoints
  • 04Recent work view highlights parts changed by the AI assistant
  • 05Blueprint mode drafts a planned system from a PRD or spec

Use cases

  • Understanding an app built largely with AI assistance without reading all the code
  • Onboarding a new teammate onto a multi-repo project
  • Reviewing what an AI coding session changed and why
  • Spotting common security misconfigurations before release

Quick start

  1. 1

Add the Floorplan marketplace in Claude Code

    claude plugin marketplace add haydenschmitty/floorplan
  2. 2

    Install the Floorplan plugin

    claude plugin install floorplan@floorplan
  3. 3

In a new session, ask Claude Code to make a floorplan of your app

  4. 4

Open the map that appears in your browser and explore it

Things to know

  • Requires Node.js 18 or newer and either Claude Code or Codex.
  • Needs Claude Code CLI installed for the map's Ask bar to read your real code when using the desktop app.
