What is it?
CalibRaw is a RAW photo editor that covers the full development workflow: sliders, tone curves, color grading, Point Color, lens correction and masks. Edits are non-destructive and stored as lightweight .calibraw JSON sidecar files next to your photos. Processing runs on the GPU through Vulkan, Direct3D 12 or Metal, using wgpu and WGSL compute shaders.
The app includes local AI tools that run on the device after a one-time, opt-in model download. These cover subject, sky, depth and click-to-select object masks, AI Remove for object removal, and RawNIND denoising for Bayer and X-Trans files. Creative effects such as fog, rain, relighting, glow and wet surfaces can be applied to the whole photo or inside a mask.
RAW decoding relies on LibRaw and Rawler, covering a wide range of camera models, and JPEG, PNG, HEIC and TIFF files are also supported. An Android build shares the same engine and sidecar format, and a headless CLI supports batch export to formats such as JPEG XL.

Things to know
- The editor needs a Vulkan, Direct3D 12 or Metal GPU driver, and OpenGL-only GPUs are not supported.
- On Linux, GPUs without a Vulkan driver fall back to the slow lavapipe software renderer.
- AI models are downloaded on first use, after you agree to the download.
