What is it?

claude-obsidian is a Claude Code plugin that builds and maintains a personal wiki inside an Obsidian vault. You place papers, articles, transcripts or notes in an inbox folder, and Claude writes linked pages with source references, then files them into indexes and maps of content. Originals are kept unchanged so every summary can be traced back to its source.

All content is stored as plain Markdown on your own machine, with no cloud database. Users can ask questions answered from the vault with citations, save useful answers as new notes, and run a health check that reports dead links, orphan pages and empty sections. Changes are planned first and applied as a single transaction, and the write stops with a conflict if you edit a note during planning.

The project ships 15 Agent Skills and 3 read-only agents. Besides Claude Code, the skills can be linked into Codex, OpenCode, Gemini, ZCode, Cursor and Windsurf using a setup script. The vault can be organized in Generic, LYT, PARA or Zettelkasten layouts.

Key features

  • 05Applies changes as a single transaction with conflict detection and recovery.
